Nespresso LogoNespresso is the brand name of Nestlé Nespresso S.A. , an operating unit of the Nestlé Group based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Nespresso machines brew espresso from coffee capsules, a type of pre-apportioned single-use container of ground coffee and flavorings.

Nespresso is a coffee capsule machine which can also be referred to as a single cup coffee maker or a non-grinding fully automatic coffee maker. Nespresso has revolutionized the domestic coffee brewing industry and popularized the capsule method of brewing, which is extremely convenient and offers a consistent, good quality cup of espresso style coffee every time.

Nespresso is a portmanteau of the words Nestlé and espresso. This is a common technique used by Nestlé for their brands, with other examples being Nescafé and Nesquik.

Capsule coffee makers such as Nespresso have been criticized due to the environmental impact of coffee capsules which are typically single use and are not recycled. As of 2017, Nespresso has set up capsule collection systems in 36 countries. Though the company states that it has the capacity to recycle 100% of its waste pods, in reality only about a quarter of Nespresso pods are recycled globally.

Nespresso started as an E-commerce business and only started selling its product in brick and mortar buildings in 2000, with a concept boutique store in Paris. Since the success of this initial success, Nespresso has opened over 700 boutiques in 68 countries.

Actor George Clooney is considered the face of Nespresso and his  Nespresso ad campaigns have immensely boosted brand awareness and popularity.
